Tudor Monks
~~~~~~~~~~
We began our journey back in time with a quick reminder of what we have learnt so far.
We then visited Gloucester Cathedral to see what it was like being a monk.
The little windows are where the monks stood to read.
We then walked through the cloisters into the Cathedral…
where we joined the choir!
We learnt why the tomb of Edward II was important to the monks and how it saved the cathedral from Henry VIII.
We returned to the education centre to work on a range of activities including writing like the monks, smelling herbs to identify them, making monks and Tudor roses.
Finally we went to The Folk Museum.
Don’t look now, we are in our Tudor underwear!
We learnt how the rich and the poor people dressed differently.
Thank you to Miss Mason and all the adults who helped make our trip back in time possible.
